NEW DELHI: The National Medical Commission (NMC) has issued a notice that registration of foreign student in higher education institutions (HEIs) using ‘EducationINdia’ portal is mandatory from the next academic session.
“All Medical Colleges are informed that the Department of Higher Education(DoHE) in consultation with Ministry of Home Affairs(MHA) has developed the EducationlNdia Portal, which is ready for use and will be made mandatory from the academic session 2023-24 for every international student who desires to take admission in lndian HEls,” read the NMC notice”
All foreign students are required to register on EducationlNdia. After registration, the students will receive a unique ID (UID) that can be used for purposes including student visas. The registration is necessary as the vis authorities will be checking and verifying the students’ credentials on this portal before issuing the student visa.
The mandate on registration on the EducatioINdia portal is applicable for all foreign students that wish to take admissions in HEIs regardless of their course duration. The educational institutions are also required to register on the portal to upload the offer of admission issued in favour of student on this portal.
