DEHRADUN: The booking of helicopter tickets to Kedarnath would commence through the IRCTC website from April 8. Nine chopper firms would operate from three locations of Sirsi, Phata and Guptkashi. This year’s Kedarnath yatra would commence on April 25.
In March this year, Uttarakhand Civil Aviation Development Authority signed an MoU with the IRCTC for helicopter ticket booking. After the trial run by the IRCTC and its approval, the ticket can be booked through its website from April 8. While 90% of the total tickets can be booked online, the government has reserved an emergency quota of 10% tickets, which would be booked offline.
To ensure no black marketing of tickets is done, only those who would have tickets would be allowed inside helipads.They would be granted entry only after scanning of QR code on the ticket.
