New Delhi: Apple unveiled its highly anticipated iPhone 15 series on September 12. Reportedly, Apple will make ‘Made-in-India’ iPhone 15 models available for purchase from the very first day of their global launch.
Apple has announced that the new iPhone 15 will be available for pre-booking from September 15, and will be available for sale from September 22. This development marks a significant milestone for the Made-in-India scheme.
Previously, Apple sourced its iPhones majorly from China, but this time, India will not have to wait for prolonged periods to purchase the new iPhone. Last year, the production of iPhone 14 models commenced several weeks after their global launch.
Apple initiated production in India back in 2017 with the iPhone SE. Since then, the company has steadily expanded its manufacturing operations in the country, with the production of iPhone 6s in 2018 and the iPhone 7 in 2019. This journey is culminating with the release of the iPhone 15 series with ‘Made-in-India’ variants.
The iPhone 15 series was officially launched during a live-streamed event from Apple Park. Apple also introduced four new iPhone models: iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max. These new iPhones bring several exciting updates, including the introduction of the A17 Bionic chip for the top-tier variant and new titanium frames.
The new iPhone also saw a substantial upgrade to the primary camera’s resolution on the non-Pro models, from 12 MP to 48 MP. “We’re also pushing the power of computational photography to new levels this year with a 48MP Main camera featuring a new 24MP default for super-high-resolution photos, a new 2x Telephoto option, and next-generation portraits,” said Kaiann Drance, Apple’s vice president of Worldwide iPhone Product Marketing.
Powering these devices is the A16 Bionic chipset, previously featured in last year’s Pro models, along with Dynamic Island.
After much anticipation, both the non-Pro and Pro models now come with the USB Type-C ports, departing from the traditional Lightning cable after 11 years. With ‘Made-in-India’ iPhone 15 models available right from the launch day, Indian consumers can look forward to a more seamless and timely iPhone experience.
