New Delhi: In a recent administrative reshuffle,1992-batch IAS officer of the Tripura cadre, IAS Sriram Taranikanti, has assumed the role of Director at the prestigious Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA). LBSNAA stands as India’s premier institution devoted to the training of the nation’s top civil service officers.
Taranikanti will serve in the capacity and receive a pay equivalent to that of a Union Secretary.
Taranikanti is replacing Srinivas R. Katikithala, an IAS officer of the 1989-batch, hailing from the Gujarat cadre.
Katikithala has been assigned the position of Secretary, Ministry of Minority Affairs within the Government of India. He has been serving on central deputation since May 2017.
Currently holding the position of Additional Secretary and Financial Adviser in the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Taranikanti’s responsibilities include overseeing budgeting, accounting, auditing, procurement, and financial management for MHA and its subordinate offices.
The appointment order was issued by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC), led by the Prime Minister.
Taranikanti has a career that spans various roles in both state and central governments. He previously held positions as the District Magistrate, Secretary of Education, Principal Secretary of Revenue, and Chief Secretary of Tripura.
He has also served as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Defence and as the Director General of the National Institute of Disaster Management.
Throughout his career, Taranikanti has played a pivotal role in implementing numerous reforms and initiatives in governance, administration, education, disaster management, and security. He has contributed to various publications and journals and has shared his insights on public policy and administration.
