New Delhi, May 13 (APAC Media): IAS officer Fating Rahul Haridas (2012 batch) has been appointed as Private Secretary to Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh in the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying.
The appointment has been approved by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) following a proposal from the Ministry of Panchayati Raj.
The move marks a rare instance of a dual-charge assignment at the Union government level as Haridas will serve as Private Secretary to the same minister in the Ministry of Panchayati Raj as well as in the Fisheries Ministry.
The dual role is expected to strengthen coordination between rural governance programmes and livestock-related development schemes, which are often interconnected at the grassroots level.
Tenure of the Appointment
The tenure will continue until 19 April 2031 or until the completion of the minister’s term, whichever is earlier.
Officials said the decision reflects the government’s focus on maintaining administrative continuity across ministries linked to rural development and livelihood generation.
Administrative Experience and Career Profile
An IAS officer of the Madhya Pradesh cadre, Haridas is known for his experience across multiple administrative sectors. Over the years, he has served in several important field and secretariat positions, including:
- Collector and Additional Collector
- Chief Executive Officer at district level
- Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM)
- Assistant Collector
- Commissioner-level assignments
- Deputy Secretary-level roles in the state government
He is currently serving as Director in the Health Services Department of the Madhya Pradesh government. Haridas comes from a diverse academic background and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and an MBBS degree.
Focus on Better Inter-Ministerial Coordination
Officials remarked the appointment reflects the Centre’s increasing reliance on experienced IAS officers for coordination across ministries, particularly in sectors linked to rural development, agriculture, and animal husbandry.
