At the 4th India Digital Empowerment Meet and Awards, Madhya Pradesh edition, APAC News Network called upon Abhijeet Agrawal IAS , Managing Director, MP State Electronics Development Corporation (MPSEDC), to elaborate the initiatives that the Madhya Pradesh government has taken to aid its people.
“We are trying to improve the citizen experience for the citizen service delivery. For that we are leveraging JAM Trinity. There are various challenges of digital governance service delivery such as duplicity, non-portable service delivery, lack of authenticity, lack of tracking. The Madhya Pradesh Government is trying to change that scenario with recent IT & e-Governance initiatives. Single Citizen Database, Mukhya Mantri Ladli Bahena Yojana, Mukhya Mantri Seekho Kamai Yojana, e-Girdawari, MP e Service Portal are examples of such initiatives,” Abhijeet Agrawal IAS said during the special session on MPSEDC.
Let’s understand how the government of Madhya Pradesh is trying to help its citizens towards improving the citizen experience.
What is the JAM Trinity?
JAM is short for Jan-Dhan, AADHAAR and Mobile. As an initiative to plug leakages of government subsidies, JAM is an initiative of the government of India to link Jan Dhan accounts, Aadhaar cards and the mobile numbers of Indians.
The Pradhan Mantri Jan-Dhan Yojana ensures that citizens have affordable access to banking savings and deposit accounts, insurance, credit, pension and other financial services. Aadhaar is the world’s largest biometric ID system for citizens of India and resident foreign nationals.
What is the Single Citizen Database (SCD)?
Devised for the state of Madhya Pradesh, the SCD is a social registry device aiming to identify and target social welfare programmes to families that are in need of support. The SCD ensures that social welfare programs like food subsidies, cash transfers and social assistance are targeted towards families and individuals who need them.
Based on the Samagra database, that came to life in the year 2013-14, it tracks changes in socio-economic status and other indicators to calculate the effectiveness of their programs and make the necessary improvements.
