Vikram Singh Malik IAS, who had been serving as the Chief Development Officer in the city, has been appointed the new municipal commissioner. Malik will replace Nitin Gaur, who has been posted in Hapur’s municipality Pilkhuwa, as the vice-chairperson.
Malik, an IAS officer of the 2018-batch, was appointed Chief Development Officer of Ghaziabad last year in April.
Before coming to NCR, he was the Joint Magistrate of Bijnor and was responsible for the ‘Bikes of Bijnor’ programme. The bike-sharing initiative utilised two-wheelers abandoned by migrant labourers during the first Covid lockdown.
Hailing from a family of civil servants, Malik received his Master’s degree from Oxford University, and loves to play sports.
