Jammu: The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Jammu and Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) recently joined forces to introduce a specialised one-year Skill to Enterprise Module (STEM) program for students in Jammu and Kashmir, as well as Ladakh, according to an official.
The program is scheduled to kick off in two batches, commencing on December 4 and December 19, at the Srinagar and Jammu campuses of the institute, respectively, as informed by the official.
The primary objective of this initiative is to provide students with the essential knowledge and guidance necessary for initiating and expanding their businesses in the future, the official added.
The program is meticulously curated to offer students a comprehensive four-week residential training alongside eight weeks of virtual training. This dual approach aims to enhance participants’ understanding of various business facets, including management, compliance, finance, planning, and strategic aspects, according to the official.
The official further explained that the program targets individuals who have completed technical courses, possess valuable skill sets, but lack the requisite resources and knowledge to embark on their entrepreneurial journeys.
It also extends an opportunity for those aspiring to achieve financial independence and make a positive impact on their communities through entrepreneurship.
In the selection process, experts will evaluate candidates based on the readiness of their ideas, and selected participants will receive guidance through industry mentorship and incubation. The trained candidates will be linked with financial institutions through Credit Connect Schemes, the official informed.
The official highlighted that the STEM program is a collaborative effort between IIM Jammu and SIDBI, with a total of 60 selected participants set to undergo free training over a one-year period.
