Bengaluru: Yotta Infrastructure, a domestic data centre provider, has set its sights on global cloud service competition with the announcement of Shakti Cloud, according to Sunil Gupta, CEO of Yotta Infrastructure. The Hiranandani group backed data centre and cloud services firm also plans to expand its data centre footprint in Greater Noida and Guwahati in 2024.
Gupta dubbed Shakti Cloud as India’s largest AI supercomputing cloud. Its infrastructure is set to be operational by February 2024, with an initial deployment of 4,800 GPUs.
Yotta Infrastructure has ordered a total of 16,800 GPUs from NVIDIA, aiming to expand to 16,000 GPUs by May 2024.
This move is in response to a commitment made to Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a meeting with NVIDIA CEO Jenson Huang, addressing the global scarcity of GPUs.
Gupta said, “We hope to offer a credible alternative to Amazon, Google, and Azure that is completely designed, built, and operated by India.”.
The platform aims to provide a self-service orchestration layer, simplifying access to GPU capacity, network capacity, storage capacity, and a platform-as-a-service (PaaS) layer. Gupta stressed the flexibility of commercial models, allowing users to opt for short-term or long-term usage without significant upfront investments.
