Jodhpur: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Jodhpur has created an innovative solution aimed at mitigating traffic congestion and reducing road accidents. The Novel MAC-based Authentication Scheme (NoMAS), developed by the institute’s computer science and engineering department, focuses on strengthening vehicle security and intelligence while addressing prevalent challenges on Indian roads.
NoMAS facilitates secure, real-time data exchange among vehicles, conveying information on road conditions, accidents, and traffic jams. This innovative approach empowers drivers with crucial insights to make informed decisions.
The Internet of Vehicles network processes the collected data, offering valuable insights into accident-prone areas, risky behavioural patterns, and road conditions requiring improvement. This analysis enables authorities to proactively address issues and enhance overall road safety.
Beyond its impact on road safety, NoMAS serves as a deterrent against vehicle theft and unauthorised use. The technology adeptly tackles challenges related to data protection, communication overhead, and security vulnerabilities, significantly elevating the Internet of Vehicles’ security and efficiency.
IIT-Jodhpur’s researchers have also pioneered a federated learning-based driver recommendation system which evaluates a driver’s stress level by analysing their driving patterns, enabling personalised recommendations to ensure safer and more comfortable journeys.
