New Delhi: Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer Esha Srivastava has been appointed as the Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas (MoPNG). The decision was approved by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet. The 2004-batch officer with an overall tenure of five years, will hold the position until March 19, 2024, or until further orders, whichever comes earlier.
Srivastava’s diverse career includes roles such as serving in the Permanent Delegation of India to UNESCO in Paris, as well as in the Indian High Commission or Embassy in Sri Lanka and Bhutan. Additionally, she has contributed to the Ministry of External Affairs in various capacities, including Under Secretary, Deputy Secretary (Europe West Division), and Director. In her most recent assignment, Srivastava served as the Deputy Chief of Mission in Thimphu.
A post-graduate in Political Science (Honours) from Lady Shri Ram College, Delhi University, Srivastava’s academic achievements include receiving the Dr. Karan Singh Gold Medal for topping Delhi University at the post-graduate level.
