Agartala: Paushali Roy, an officer in the Tripura Forest Service, has become the first woman from Tripura to be promoted to the rank of Indian Forest Services (IFS).
The Government of India formally announced her promotion, along with seven other officers, through a notification issued by the Under Secretary of the Ministry of Environment, Forests, and Climate Change.
Among the newly appointed officers are IFS Krishna Gopal Roy, IFS Naresh Jamatia, IFS Sumit Deb, IFS Jaymallya Bhattcahrjee, IFS Suman Malla, and IFS Bidyut Choudhury. Notably, Paushali Roy’s husband, IFS Abhijit De, was also appointed simultaneously.
IFS officer Paushali Roy is currently serving as the Director of Tripura Forest Training Academy in Gandhigram. She completed her schooling at Shishu Bihar School in Agartala, obtained a Master’s in Forestry Science from NERIST in Itanagar, and earned a Gold Medal in 2009. Her career in the Tripura Forest Services began the same year.
Roy has served as the Sub-Divisional Forest Officer in Bishalgarh in 2015, where she played a pivotal role in combatting illegal wood sawing operations and curbing sand mining.
