New Delhi: On the occasion of International Women’s Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared a ₹ 100 reduction in the price of cooking gas cylinders, aiming to alleviate the financial strain on households nationwide.
The declaration came via a post on X, where PM Modi said, “Today, on Women’s Day, our Government has decided to reduce LPG cylinder prices by ₹ 100. This will significantly ease the financial burden on millions of households across the country, especially benefiting our Nari Shakti.”
The post elaborated that this move is not just about making cooking gas more accessible; it’s also about fostering family well-being and promoting a healthier living environment. The post further read, “This is in line with our commitment to empowering women and ensuring ‘Ease of Living’ for them.”
Before this announcement, the cost of a 14.2 kg cooking gas cylinder was approximately ₹900 in the national capital, Delhi.
The government, in a related move, extended a subsidy of ₹300 per LPG cylinder for economically disadvantaged women under the Ujjwala Yojana for the upcoming fiscal year starting April 1.
Additionally, PM Modi took to X to honour International Women’s Day, and wrote, “We salute the strength, courage, and resilience of our Nari Shakti and laud their accomplishments across various fields. Our government is committed to empowering women through initiatives in education, entrepreneurship, agriculture, technology and more.”
