Bengaluru: Karnataka’s Home Minister, Dr G Parameshwara, declared plans to implement a robust cyber security policy amidst the increasing digitisation of government services.
Plan for a foolproof cyber security system was announced at the ‘Cyber Crime Investigation Summit – 2024’, organised by the Police Department, CID, and the Cyber Crime Investigation Training and Research Institute (CCITR).
Highlighting Karnataka’s proactive stance, Dr. Parameshwara said the state is ahead of others in addressing cyber security concerns. With numerous government departments embracing digital platforms like Seva Sindhu for seamless service delivery, he stressed the importance of cyber safety and security in unison with digital adoption.
Pointing to rising cyber crimes including fraud and data theft, Dr. Parameshwara called for the necessity for foolproof digital services and heightened public awareness. To strengthen the state’s cyber crime department, the government plans to enlist support from firms specialising in artificial intelligence, cyber security, and cloud computing.
Additionally, specialised training initiatives have already benefited over 33,000 personnel from the judiciary, police, and defence forces at the CCITR.
Acknowledging the global nature of cyber threats, Dr. Parameshwara called for international collaboration to combat cyber attacks effectively. Noting the surge in cases such as deepfake technology, illegal money transfers, and online frauds, he called cybercrime a global challenge.
