Hyderabad: The International Institute of Information Technology Hyderabad (IIITH) has launched its Online Master of Science in Information Technology (eMSIT) on Coursera. The program is the first master’s degree from an Indian university on the online learning platform. It customises learning paths for students by including industry micro-credentials.
The program focuses on practical projects and offers specialised courses in data science, full-stack development, and machine learning. It also integrates AI tools like ChatGPT and Copilot. Students get extra help from experienced teaching assistants and industry experts.
Professor P. J. Narayanan, Director of IIIT Hyderabad, said, “The programme’s innovative ‘learn by doing’ framework will help new generations of students successfully launch or advance their careers in IT and computer science.”
Professor Raj Reddy, Founding Chairman of IIIT-Hyderabad, said, “Our partnership with Coursera helps us deliver this transformative programme at scale and widen the talent pool, as the National Education Policy envisioned.”
The program provides flexible learning choices for people from various backgrounds. To apply, students must already have a four-year undergraduate (UG) degree in STEM or a three-year undergraduate degree with at least one course in Mathematics of Computing, plus one year of postgraduate study after UG.
