New Delhi: India and Japan have pledged to amplify their bilateral health cooperation, and expand into new domains like digital health, artificial intelligence (AI) in healthcare, elderly care, and tackling non-communicable diseases. The initiative will utilise technological advancements to improve health outcomes as well as address the rising challenges due to an ageing population and lifestyle-related diseases.
The decision was mutually agreed upon during a meeting on the sidelines of the 77th World Health Assembly (WHA) in Geneva. Officials informed that the two nations have decided to build on the Memorandum of Cooperation signed in 2018. They also informed that the two nations have decided to train Indian nursing professionals in the Japanese language, to prepare them for employment opportunities in Japan.
