Kolkata: Manipal Hospitals recently acquired an 87% stake acquisition in Medica Synergie, valued at about ₹13.5 billion ($180 million). Allegro Capital Advisors, Khaitan and Co., and KPMG are providing advisory services to integrate Medica Synergie into Manipal’s portfolio.
Based in Kolkata, Medica Synergie has now become a part of Manipal’s network. Due to this addition, Manipal Hospitals will now treat seven million patients annually across 37 hospitals in 19 cities and 14 states. With this acquisition, Manipal Hospitals has surpassed Apollo Hospitals as the largest hospital in India, with more than 10,500 in bed capacity.
Manipal Hospitals plans to utilise Medica Synergie’s skills and facilities to meet the growing need for premium healthcare in Eastern India. This acquisition, pending standard transaction procedures, is a key part of Manipal’s strategy to expand in the region.
