New Delhi: India’s fintech company PhonePe and Sri Lanka’s ride-hailing platform PickMe have collaborated to enable UPI-based payments for Indian travellers in Sri Lanka. PhonePe also recently collaborated with LankaPay to enable users to make UPI payments across the island nation.
Ritesh Pai, CEO of PhonePe – International Payments, said, “Now, with PhonePe, Indian tourists visiting the beautiful island nation of Sri Lanka can enjoy the ease and security of UPI payments for their rides.”
This initiative was launched last month and received support from Indian High Commissioner Santosh Jha, who encouraged Sri Lankan companies to collaborate with Indian firms to leverage the UPI platform for innovations in services like hotel and cab bookings, delivery services, etc.
