Chandigarh: The government of Haryana has appointed Mandeep Singh Brar as the new Home Secretary of the Union Territory of Chandigarh. He was appointed to the post after the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet agreed to the Ministry of Home Affairs’s proposal for his inter-cadre deputation. The move has come as the position of the Home Secretary has been lying vacant since June 2024.
Brar is an Indian Administrative Service Officer of the 2005 batch belonging to the Haryana cadre. Presently, he is serving as the Director of Information and Public Relations in Haryana. Before assuming the role of Home Secretary, he served as the Deputy Commissioner in the Union Territory on a three-year deputation from 2018 to 2021.
