New Delhi: In a move aimed at advancing space education in India, the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) have launched a new Model Curriculum for Space Technology. This initiative marks a significant step towards equipping students with the knowledge and skills needed to drive India’s space ambitions.
The curriculum was introduced as part of a broader program celebrating the first anniversary of National Space Day, held in collaboration with the Indian Space Association (ISpA) and IN-SPACe. The initiative is designed to inspire the next generation of space scientists, engineers, and leaders, ensuring a steady pipeline of talent for India’s growing space sector. Alongside the curriculum launch, AICTE and ISpA formalized their collaboration through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), aimed at promoting higher education and research in space technology. This partnership is expected to foster greater collaboration between academic institutions and the space industry, ultimately supporting India’s goal of becoming a self-reliant leader in space technology.
The event also highlighted the significance of space technology in addressing modern societal challenges, from disaster management to economic growth. By embedding space education more deeply into the academic ecosystem, India aims to enhance its capabilities and sustain its position as a global leader in the space domain.
