Sriharikota: The Indian Space Research Organisation (Isro) has initiated the countdown for the small satellite launch vehicle (SSLV) mission’s third and final developmental flight. The organization is bringing the SSLV into full operational mode for small satellite launches.
This launch will take place from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh. It signifies the end of the SSLV development stage. The initial scheduled date was August 15.
The main objectives of the EOS-8 mission are:
- Developing a microsatellite
- Creating payload instruments that are compatible with the microsatellite bus
- Incorporating new technologies for future satellites
Earth Observation Satellite (EOS-8) is fitted with three payloads- an electro-optical infrared payload, a global navigation satellite system reflectometry payload, and a silicon carbide ultraviolet dosimeter which will be launched on a 34-meter rocket. The satellite is made to take pictures day and night, surveillance environmental monitoring, and disaster monitoring.
