Itanagar: The Union Home Affairs Ministry has appointed Manish Kumar Gupta as the new Chief Secretary of Arunachal Pradesh. An official notification from the ministry has confirmed his appointment to the post. As per the order, Gupta will replace the incumbent chief secretary, IAS Dharmendra (1989 batch), who has been transferred to the national capital.
Gupta is an IAS Officer of the 1991 batch belonging to the AGMUT cadre. He has previously served as the principal secretary (Home) and as the additional chief secretary (ACS) in the Delhi administration. During his tenure as the ACS in the national capital, he held charge of departments such as Land and Building, Revenue, Home, Industries, Labour, DUSIB, Urban Development, and Shahjahanabad Redevelopment Corporation.
Gupta holds a BTech degree in Civil Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur. In addition, he has done a Master’s in Public Administration from the Harvard Kennedy School at Harvard University, USA.
