New Delhi: Suzlon Group has announced that they have secured India’s largest wind energy contract from NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL), a 1166 MW project. The order involves the installation of 370 wind turbine generators, each with a capacity of 3.15 MW, at two NTPC Renewable Energy projects and one IndianOil NTPC Green Energy project in Gujarat.
This deal, announced after Suzlon’s strong Q1 results for FY 25, brings the company’s cumulative order book to nearly 5 GW as of September 3, 2024. The turbines will be equipped with Hybrid Lattice Tubular (HLT) towers, reflecting a focus on advanced technology.
Suzlon’s Vice Chairman, Girish Tanti, highlighted this as the company’s first direct order from NTPC’s renewables arm, marking Suzlon’s re-entry into the PSU sector. He noted the project’s importance for Gujarat’s leadership in renewable energy and India’s goal of energy self-sufficiency.
CEO JP Chalasani emphasized that this collaboration between Suzlon and NGEL will play a key role in India’s energy transition. Suzlon will manage the supply, installation, commissioning, and maintenance of the turbines, positioning this project as a significant step in advancing local manufacturing and sustainable energy solutions under the ‘Make in India’ initiative.
