Lucknow, 31 August (APAC Media): The National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) and the Lucknow Cantonment Board have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).Â
The MoU is for the establishment of Shaurya Academy. It is aimed at grooming candidates for recruitment into the Armed Forces, Police, and other uniformed services.Â
The agreement was formally exchanged between Prashant Sinha, Chief Operating Officer, NSDC, and Abhishek Rathore, Chief Executive Officer, Lucknow Cantonment Board, marking the start of what officials describe as a long-term skilling collaboration.
What Shaurya Academy Will Offer?
Once operational, the academy will run structured training programmes designed to help young aspirants build:
- Physical fitness and discipline suited to service life
- Domain-specific skills required to clear uniformed-service recruitment exams
- A clearer picture of the career paths open to them
- Confidence to handle competitive selection rounds, from written tests to physical trials
The idea is to give aspiring candidates in Lucknow a more organised, dependable route into the Armed Forces, Police, and allied uniformed services, rather than leaving preparation to scattered, informal coaching.
Broader Objective of the PartnershipÂ
This partnership brings together two strengths. It combines NSDC’s skilling framework with the Cantonment Board’s infrastructure and network. Together, they aim to build stronger career paths for India’s youth. Many young people wish to join the armed forces. This partnership could be one of the first steps in that direction.Â
The signing of the MoU was witnessed by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Skill Development & Entrepreneurship Jayant Chaudhary, Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, and Uttar Pradesh Minister of State Kapil Dev Aggarwal.
