Bangalore: Applied Materials India Private Limited and the Tamil Nadu Government have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to establish a Centre of Excellence in AI and Data Science in Chennai. This new facility will focus on advancing semiconductor manufacturing and equipment technologies.
The Center aims to:
- Collaborate with local universities and industry partners
- Enhance the semiconductor ecosystem in Tamil Nadu
- Cultivate a skilled workforce to support industry growth
As part of this initiative, Applied Materials plans to create over 500 technical jobs in the state within the coming years. The MOU was signed in San Francisco by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin and Dr. Prabhu Raja, President of the Semiconductor Products Group at Applied Materials.
