New Delhi: Meta, in collaboration with the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB), and the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C), has unveiled the ‘Scam se Bacho’ campaign to combat the rising cases of online scams and enhance cyber security.
On the occasion, the I&B secretary highlighted that with more than 900 million Internet users, India is witnessing rapid digital growth. In addition, the country is also becoming a global leader in UPI transactions. However, this progress has also increased the risks of cyber fraud, with 1.1 million cases reported just in 2023. This makes raising digital awareness among citizens extremely crucial.
The I&B secretary explained that the ‘Scam se Bacho’ Campaign will be more than just an awareness drive. It will be a tool to empower Indian citizens with the right knowledge to safeguard themselves against cyber threats in order to create a robust digital infrastructure.
