New Delhi: Speaking at a symposium of the Indian Foundation for Quality Management, N. Chandrasekaran, Chairman of Tata Group, announced that the group will generate five lakh manufacturing jobs in the next five years. The jobs will be created across various industries including semiconductors, electric vehicles, batteries, and related industries. The decision has been taken to strengthen the manufacturing sector in the country and involve the youth in this development.
As part of this initiative, the Tata Group is already establishing a semiconductor plant in Assam and new manufacturing units for electric vehicles and batteries. These facilities are expected to create around 27,000 direct and indirect jobs for the youth and create a multiplier effect.
In order to further realize the aim, Tata Group has also invited collaborations from other key elements of the ecosystem such as small and medium-sized companies.
