New Delhi: With Delhi’s air quality worsening, schools are taking extra steps to keep students safe. While primary classes have moved online, older students attending in-person are now required to wear N95 masks. Schools have also stopped all outdoor activities to reduce exposure to the polluted air.
Sudha Acharya, Principal of ITL Public School, said they have shifted focus to indoor activities like reading, painting, and board games to keep students engaged. Windows are being kept shut, and the use of strong cleaning agents is avoided to ensure better air quality indoors.
The city’s air quality index (AQI) hit 411, prompting authorities to enforce stricter safety measures. The Delhi government has moved all classes up to Grade 5 online until further notice.
Indraprastha International School is continuing with online lessons, using platforms like Microsoft Teams and providing recorded sessions for students who miss live classes. Schools have also advised parents on maintaining a healthy diet and using simple home remedies to help children cope with the bad air quality.
