Mumbai: The Election Commission of India has appointed Sanjay Kumar Verma as Maharashtra’s new Director General of Police. He has replaced Rashmi Shukla, who has been removed from the post owing to complaints from the opposition parties.
Verma is an Indian Police Service (IPS) Officer of the 1990 batch. Presently, he holds the position of Director General of Legal and Technical. He was leading the list of candidates for the full-time DGP position. The official order confirmed that Verma will continue to serve as the DGP till April 2028, when he is due to retire.
