New Delhi: The Union Minister of New and Renewable Energy, Pralhad Joshi, announced that India has been re-elected as the President of the International Solar Alliance (ISA) from 2024 to 2026. In addition, France has been made the Co-President. The announcement was made during the General Assembly held at the Bharat Mandapam.
According to Joshi, the position has been designated to India owing to the impactful work the country has done in the field of renewable energy. Over the years, India has advanced solar energy adoption across the globe and promoted investment in essential solar projects, including mini-grids and healthcare solutions.
Additionally, eight Vice Presidents of the Standing Committee, two from each of the four ISA regions, were also selected. Ghana and Seychelles have been selected as VPs from the Africa region. Australia and Sri Lanka have been named VPs from the Asia and Pacific region. Germany and Italy have been selected as VPs of the European region while Grenada and Suriname have been selected as VPs for the Latin America and Caribbean region.
