New Delhi:Â Finance Secretary, Tuhin Kanta Pandey has taken on an additional role as the interim Secretary for the Department of Personnel and Training (DOPT), marking his fourth major responsibility. Pandey, an IAS officer from the 1987 Odisha batch, is already the Secretary of the Department of Investment and Public Asset Management (DIPAM) and also holds the interim position for the Department of Public Enterprises (DPE).
The DOPT has faced leadership changes since former Secretary Radha S. Chauhan retired on June 30, 2024. After her retirement, Home Secretary Ajay Kumar Bhalla briefly held the role, followed by Dr. Vivek Joshi, who was appointed in August but served just nine weeks before taking up the post of Chief Secretary of Haryana.
Pandey’s appointment on November 4 comes as the DOPT seeks more stability in its leadership. With Pandey balancing four key roles, questions remain about how long the department will continue with interim leadership arrangements.
