New Delhi: In a significant bureaucratic reshuffle, senior IAS officer Arunish Chawla has been appointed as the Revenue Secretary in the Ministry of Finance. Chawla, a 1992-batch officer from the Bihar cadre, previously served as the Secretary of Pharmaceuticals in the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers.
Key Appointments in Various Ministries
Several high-profile appointments were also announced alongside Chawla’s new role:
Amit Agrawal: The CEO of the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has been appointed as the Secretary of Pharmaceuticals, succeeding Arunish Chawla.
Vineet Joshi: The Chief Secretary of Manipur has been designated as the Secretary of Higher Education.
Neerja Sekhar: Previously the Special Secretary in the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Sekhar will now serve as the Director General of the National Productivity Council.
Rachna Shah: The Textiles Secretary has been reassigned as the Secretary of the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT).
Neelam Shammi Rao: Former Secretary of the National Commission for Minorities will now serve as the new Textiles Secretary.
Sanjay Sethi: Appointed as the Secretary of the National Commission for Minorities.
This reshuffle is seen as part of the government’s effort to align administrative leadership with emerging national priorities across critical sectors such as finance, education, and governance.
