Guwahati: Ashwani Kumar, a 2010-batch IAS officer of the Assam-Meghalaya cadre, has been appointed as the Director of the Directorate of Information Technology, Electronics & Communication (DITEC) in Assam. In this capacity, he will oversee the development and enhancement of critical IT infrastructure in the state, including the State Wide Area Network (SWAN), State Data Centre (SDC), and Common Services Centre (CSC).
As Director, Ashwani will also focus on attracting investments in Assam’s IT sector by facilitating the establishment of IT parks and Electronic System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM) clusters. His responsibilities include implementing the state’s IT Policy, IT Acts, ESD Rules, and Cybersecurity initiatives, ensuring a robust digital framework.
Ashwani will work closely with various government departments and agencies to streamline IT operations and improve public service delivery. A key part of his role will be advancing e-governance projects and leveraging Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to strengthen government-citizen interactions.
An alumnus of IIT Madras with a degree in Electrical Engineering, Kumar’s expertise is expected to drive significant progress in Assam’s digital landscape. His appointment is seen as a strategic move to modernize the state’s IT infrastructure and promote digital transformation.
