Mishra, a 1977-batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer, served as Odisha’s DGP from 2012 to 2014. During his tenure, he played a key role in combating Maoist violence in the southern districts of Rayagada, Malkangiri, and Koraput, earning recognition for his efforts in restoring law and order in these regions. After his stint as DGP, Mishra served as the Director General of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) from 2014 to 2016. He also held the position of Director General of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) before retiring from active service.
Post-retirement, Mishra entered politics and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in Odisha. He contested as a BJP candidate from the Cuttack Lok Sabha constituency but was unsuccessful.
Mishra’s vast administrative and law enforcement experience is expected to bolster the state government’s strategies and governance under Chief Minister Majhi’s leadership.
