New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for multiple development projects in Delhi on 5 January, aimed at boosting regional connectivity and enhancing ease of travel.
The projects, with a total investment exceeding Rs 12,200 crore, include major advancements in urban transport and healthcare infrastructure.
The event will commence with PM Modi taking a ride on the Namo Bharat Train at 11 AM from Sahibabad RRTS Station to New Ashok Nagar RRTS Station. This marks a major milestone as Delhi prepares to welcome its first Namo Bharat connectivity through the inauguration of the 13-km Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Namo Bharat corridor.
Built at a cost of about Rs 4,600 crore, the high-speed corridor between Sahibabad and New Ashok Nagar is expected to ease travel between Delhi and Meerut.
Additionally, PM Modi will inaugurate the Janakpuri-Krishna Park section of Delhi Metro Phase-IV, a 2.8-km stretch costing Rs 1,200 crore. This is the first operational segment of Phase-IV and will benefit areas in West Delhi, including Krishna Park, parts of Vikaspuri, and Janakpuri, improving urban connectivity in these regions.
Further expanding Delhi Metro’s reach, PM Modi will lay the foundation stone for the 26.5-km Rithala-Kundli section of Phase-IV. With an investment of Rs 6,230 crore, this extension of the Red Line will connect Delhi’s Rithala to Kundli in Haryana. The Cabinet approved the Rithala-Narela-Kundli corridor in early December last year under the Delhi Metro Phase-IV project.
The corridor will enhance connectivity in North-West Delhi and Haryana, benefiting key areas such as Rohini, Bawana, Narela, and Kundli. It will link residential, commercial, and industrial zones while facilitating seamless travel across Delhi, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh.
On the healthcare front, PM Modi will lay the foundation stone for a state-of-the-art facility for the Central Ayurveda Research Institute (CARI) at Rohini, New Delhi.
The Rs 185 crore project aims to establish a comprehensive healthcare and research hub featuring advanced infrastructure, including administrative, outpatient, inpatient, and treatment blocks. The new campus is expected to provide integrated healthcare services and contribute to research and development in Ayurveda.
The projects underscore the government’s commitment to fostering urban development, modernizing public transport, and strengthening healthcare infrastructure, setting a transformative path for Delhi and the surrounding regions.
However apart from these projects, PM Modi handed over 1,675 flats to underserved residents in Ashok Vihar on 3 January. During the same event, he also inaugurated the World Trade Centre at Nauroji Nagar, eco-friendly GPRA Quarters in Sarojini Nagar, and the CBSE Integrated Office Complex in Dwarka. Additionally, PM Modi laid the foundation stone for Veer Savarkar College in Roshanpura and unveiled Delhi University projects worth Rs 600 crore.
Today is a landmark day for Delhi, with transformative projects in housing, infrastructure and education being launched to accelerate the city’s development.
