New Delhi: TP-Link has joined hands with Optiemus Electronics Ltd (OEL) to locally manufacture networking and IoT devices, aligning with India’s “Make in India” initiative. The partnership aims to cater to the rising demand for connected devices in India while reducing import dependencies and expanding into export markets.
Focus on Local Manufacturing
Under the agreement, OEL will produce a range of telecom and IoT products, including GPON (ONT), security cameras, home Wi-Fi routers, enterprise routers, modems, SOHO switches, and other network expansion devices. The manufacturing will take place at OEL’s facility, which has a production capacity of six million devices annually.
Reduced Import Dependence
As part of the partnership, OEL will work on building a local supply chain for components such as power adapters and mechanical parts, aiming to reduce reliance on imports. This move is expected to enhance supply chain efficiency and offer better production control.
Export Market Potential
The collaboration is also geared toward developing electronic products for international markets. By leveraging OEL’s manufacturing capabilities, TP-Link aims to position India as a key export hub for telecom and IoT devices. Both companies see the move as a step toward advancing India’s role in global telecom and electronics supply chains. The agreement highlights growing collaboration between global brands and local manufacturers to meet the country’s technological and economic goals.
