Noida: Noida International Airport (NIA) has signed an agreement with the Uttarakhand Transport Corporation (UTC) to introduce bus services linking the airport with key destinations in Uttarakhand. The initiative aims to enhance connectivity between Noida and cities like Dehradun, Rishikesh, Haridwar, and Haldwani.
Improved Regional Connectivity
The bus services will commence when NIA begins passenger operations later this year. The agreement is part of efforts to establish a seamless transport network, ensuring easier access for travelers flying in and out of the airport.
NIA, located near the Yamuna Expressway, is positioned as a major transit point for passengers from Delhi-NCR and Western Uttar Pradesh. The partnership with UTC aligns with the airport’s plan to provide multiple transportation options, reducing dependence on private vehicles.
Officials Highlight Benefits of the Tie-up
Christoph Schnellmann, CEO of Noida International Airport, emphasized the role of ground transportation in making the airport a regional travel hub. “By offering bus services to major destinations, we aim to improve accessibility and convenience for travelers,” he said.
The Managing Director of UTC noted that the initiative would integrate road and air travel, making it easier for passengers to reach Uttarakhand’s popular destinations. “This step will improve public transport options and support tourism and economic activity,” he added.
Future Expansion Plans
NIA, set to open with one runway and a terminal capable of handling 12 million passengers annually, is expected to expand significantly in later phases. The long-term plan includes infrastructure to manage up to 70 million passengers per year, positioning it as a key airport for northern India.
The collaboration with UTC reflects broader efforts by NIA to strengthen public transport access, with additional partnerships under consideration to enhance connectivity for travelers.
