New Delhi: Amazon Web Services (AWS) has committed to investing $8.3 billion in Maharashtra over the next few years, a move expected to bolster India’s digital infrastructure and cloud computing capabilities.
The announcement came after a high-level meeting between AWS India and South Asia President Sandeep Dutta and Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw in New Delhi.
Following the discussion, Vaishnaw highlighted AWS’s optimism about India’s growth potential and its plans to deploy cutting-edge technologies, including the latest GPUs and advanced compute facilities. The investment, which extends up to 2029-30, will also lead to a significant increase in employment opportunities across the country.
“AWS is bringing the latest technologies, deploying top-tier compute facilities, and expanding cloud management services in India,” said Vaishnaw. “Along with this investment, a substantial number of jobs will be created in the coming years.”
The move aligns with India’s push to strengthen cloud computing, AI-driven services, and digital transformation, reinforcing Maharashtra’s position as a hub for high-tech innovation and infrastructure development.
