Bhubaneswar:Â The Odisha government has allotted land to Inox Solar for setting up a solar cell and module manufacturing unit in the Dhenkanal district.
The project, worth Rs 4,000 crore, is expected to generate over 3,400 jobs and significantly contribute to the state’s industrial and green energy targets.
Project Details
Inox Solar, a subsidiary of Inox Clean Energy and part of the INOXGFL Group, will develop a facility with a production capacity of 4.8 GW each for solar cells and modules. The project received clearance earlier from the state’s High-Level Clearance Authority (HLCA), which is responsible for approving large-scale industrial investments.
The land allocation is a key move under Odisha’s broader strategy to attract renewable energy investments and enhance its manufacturing ecosystem. Officials stated that the plant is expected to support downstream industries and infrastructure in the region.
Strategic Energy Goals
The upcoming facility aligns with the central government’s national renewable energy target of 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030. Odisha’s decision to support such manufacturing projects is also part of its plan to integrate sustainability with industrialisation and job creation.
Speaking on the development, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi said the project complements ongoing efforts to build a green energy framework in the state. Inox Solar’s leadership echoed similar sentiments about expanding India’s clean energy capacity.
Regional Economic Impact
The Dhenkanal region, where the plant will be located, is expected to see increased economic activity through job creation, infrastructure development, and industrial support services. While the state government views this project as part of a long-term industrial strategy, analysts note that successful implementation will depend on the timely execution of the plant and integration with national and regional power grids.
This is among several recent investments that indicate a shift in state-level policy toward enabling clean-tech manufacturing hubs across India.
