New Delhi: A day after the launch of Operation Sindoor, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday chaired a high-level meeting with Secretaries of key government ministries and departments to assess inter-ministerial coordination, institutional preparedness and response mechanisms during critical times.
The meeting between PM Modi and all the secretaries from the central government focused on enhancing civil defence systems, addressing the spread of misinformation and fake news and safeguarding vital national infrastructure.
Emphasising the need for seamless coordination, PM Modi urged ministries to work in tandem with state authorities and local institutions to maintain operational continuity and resilience.
According to the Prime Minister’s Office, the review was attended by the Cabinet Secretary, top officials from the PMO, and Secretaries from the Ministries of Defence, Home Affairs, External Affairs, Information and Broadcasting, Power, Health and Telecommunications.
Each ministry was instructed to conduct a comprehensive review of its functioning and ensure robust mechanisms for emergency response and internal communication.
The statement noted that secretaries detailed their preparedness measures using a “whole-of-government” approach, reflecting unified action during this sensitive period which emerged after the deadly Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir on 22 April.
PM Modi called for continued vigilance, coordinated efforts and clear communication channels, reaffirming the government’s resolve to protect national security, ensure readiness and safeguard public well-being.
In parallel, an all-party meeting was also convened on 8 May, where leaders across political lines were briefed on the developments and objectives of Operation Sindoor.
