Lucknow: In a move to transform the education ecosystem in Uttar Pradesh, the state government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Monash University, one of Australia’s premier research institutions.
The agreement between the UP government and Monash University was signed in the presence of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, signalling a major step towards aligning the state’s education system with global standards.
A Global Platform for Learning and Innovation
The MoU will offer students and faculty from basic, secondary, and higher education institutions in Uttar Pradesh a global platform for research, innovation, training, and technical collaboration. This partnership will open new avenues for academic exchange, cross-cultural learning, and advanced training programs.
Aligned with NEP 2020
Highlighting the alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, CM Adityanath noted that the MoU would promote multi-dimensional learning, skill development, and increased international cooperation. The collaboration follows a similar initiative with Western Sydney University and reinforces the state’s commitment to academic excellence and global partnerships.
Gautam Buddha University to Anchor Implementation
Gautam Buddha University will serve as the central hub for implementing the Monash partnership. The university has been tasked with overseeing the successful rollout of the collaboration. The aim is to create a model of international education cooperation within the state.
World-Class Training for Teachers
Professor Manisha, a former Delhi University academic now at Monash, played a crucial role in forging this partnership. She noted that Monash trains around 30,000 teachers annually, including educators from conflict-affected regions. With this MoU, teachers from Uttar Pradesh will gain access to world-class training programs, significantly enhancing teaching quality across the state.
