Gandhinagar: In an effort to expand its presence in the financial sector, Infosys has announced the opening of its new BFSI development centre (DC) at Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City). Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendrabhai Patel inaugurated the DC, marking a significant expansion in the region’s digital and financial infrastructure. The event was attended by Infosys leadership, including CFO Jayesh Sanghrajka and SVPs Niladri Prasad Mishra and Rajneesh Malviya, alongside senior state government officials.Â
Green Credentials & Smart Design
Aligned with Infosys’ ESG commitments, the centre features advanced green-office design elements. These include energy and water conservation systems, daylight maximisation, and smart operational technologies. Designed as a future‑ready hybrid workplace, the DC emphasises productivity, innovation, and collaboration through its social-capital-building spaces.
TechFin Focus & Workforce Expansion
Built as a key TechFin hub supporting the global BFSI (Banking, Financial Services, Insurance) sector, the DC will specialise in digital banking, regulatory technology, trade finance, capital markets, cards and payments, risk, and compliance management. It integrates emerging technologies such as AI, GenAI, cloud, API-driven development, cybersecurity, and blockchain to deliver cross-border digital services. The facility is set to operate under a hybrid work model, accommodating over 1,000 professionals nearly immediately, reinforcing Infosys’ strategy to expand delivery centres beyond traditional hubs. This marks Infosys’ first centre in Gujarat and its inaugural presence in GIFT City.
Strategic Impact & Outlook
This DC reaffirms GIFT City’s growing stature as India’s premier FinTech and smart-city destination. With major players like Cognizant, Google, IBM, and Bank of America already present, Infosys’ investment further cements the ecosystem’s innovation potential The centre also aligns with Gujarat’s broader IT/ITeS policy (2022–27), supporting the state’s aim to generate 1,00,000 IT jobs and bolster AI-centric growth.Â
