New Delhi: The National e-Governance Division (NeGD), under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), has launched a two-day training programme on ‘Artificial Intelligence in Governance’ at the Department of Management Studies (DMS), Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi.
Held from 26 to 27 June, the initiative is aimed at strengthening the AI readiness of government officials across the country.
The workshop was formally inaugurated by Rajnish Kumar, COO and Director at NeGD, Sunil Sharma, Director at NeGD and Prof Surya Prakash Singh, Head of DMS at IIT Delhi.
A total of 59 participants from various Central Ministries, State Departments and government organisations are taking part in this hands-on capacity-building effort.
Organised under the Capacity Building Scheme (CB Phase III) of the Digital India Programme, the training is designed to familiarise officials with emerging AI technologies and their ethical, legal and policy implications in governance.
The sessions include modules on AI policy frameworks, digital transformation strategies, responsible use of AI, and sector-specific applications. Interactive components such as group exercises and use-case discussions are being employed to help officers contextualise AI tools for improved public service delivery and citizen engagement.
The programme reflects the core mission of CB Phase III – building institutional and individual digital capacities across all levels of government.
The NeGD’s Capacity Building team, in collaboration with IIT Delhi, has curated the course to ensure both academic rigour and practical relevance in line with India’s digital governance goals.
