New Delhi: The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) under the Ministry of Communications has revealed that over five lakh lost or stolen mobile devices have been successfully recovered using the Sanchar Saathi platform.
This citizen-centric digital initiative is helping mobile users block, trace and recover their missing handsets with the support of law enforcement and advanced technology.
Launched as part of the government’s broader Digital India and Digital Trust frameworks, Sanchar Saathi has emerged as a robust shield for mobile users across the country.
The platform enables swift blocking of lost or stolen devices, collaborates closely with police authorities and prevents the misuse of personal information, ensuring both security and peace of mind for affected users.
Termed as “Your Digital Safety Buddy,” the initiative leverages DoT’s tech infrastructure to track devices through IMEI numbers and other identifiers, making recovery faster and more effective.
The government credits the success of Sanchar Saathi to the seamless coordination between telecom operators, police departments and digital systems, making it one of the most effective public safety tools in the mobile ecosystem.
The milestone of five lakh recoveries not only underscores the platform’s reliability but also reflects its growing acceptance among citizens.
However, officials urge more users to come forward and make use of the Sanchar Saathi mobile app or website in case of mobile loss or theft.
