Varanasi: Professor Ajit Kumar Chaturvedi has been appointed as the new Vice Chancellor of Banaras Hindu University (BHU).
He has been appointed for the role by the President of India in her capacity as the Visitor of the university. Chaturvedi will serve in the role for three years from the date he enters office or until he attains the age of 70 years, whichever is earlier.
Chaturvedi brings decades of academic and administrative experience, having previously served as Director of IIT Roorkee and IIT Mandi. He began his academic career at IIT Kanpur, where he made significant contributions to communication theory, particularly in waveform shaping and sequence design.Â
A noted expert in wireless communication technology, Chaturvedi is known for his research on communication systems. Ministry of Education officials highlighted his deep knowledge and leadership record as key strengths that will benefit BHU in the coming years.
With this appointment, BHU gains a seasoned academic leader at the helm, expected to guide the university toward greater excellence in research and innovation.
