New Delhi: Renewable energy firm SAEL Industries Ltd, through its subsidiary SAEL Solar P6 Private Limited, is set to invest Rs 8,200 crore in establishing a 10 GW integrated solar cell and module manufacturing facility in Greater Noida. The project comes under the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) and is scheduled to begin construction in 2025.
The announcement follows Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath handing over a Letter of Comfort to SAEL Director and Co-Founder Sukhbir Singh Awla, signalling state-level support for the project.
The new facility will consist of two manufacturing lines, a 5 GW solar cell unit and a 5 GW module line, and will focus on producing Tunnel Oxide Passivated Contact (TOPCon) solar cells. These cells will be assembled in-house into solar modules, forming part of SAEL’s backward integration strategy to support its Independent Power Producer (IPP) operations.
Currently, SAEL operates 3.5 GW of module assembly capacity, with 3.2 GW in Rajasthan and 300 MW in Punjab. The upcoming Greater Noida facility is expected to significantly boost its total solar manufacturing capacity to 8.5 GW.
The investment is aligned with the Uttar Pradesh government’s broader renewable energy strategy, which aims to expand the state’s role in green energy production through domestic manufacturing and infrastructure development.
