Ajmer: SPML Infra Limited has secured a major Rs 385 crore contract for building and operating a water supply system in the Kekri-Sarwar region of Ajmer district, Rajasthan.Â
The project is part of the Government of India’s flagship Jal Jeevan Mission, which aims to provide safe drinking water to every household.
The project includes both construction and a 10-year operation and maintenance (O&M) period, showing a long-term commitment to improving water infrastructure in the region. Water will be sourced from the Bisalpur Dam, a key reservoir in the state.
As part of the work, SPML Infra will build a 160 million litres per day (MLD) water treatment plant at Kekri. This plant will ensure the treated water meets modern quality standards. Two clear water reservoirs will also be constructed—one of 20 million litres (ML) at the WTP campus and another 17.75 ML reservoir at the IPS Nasirabad pumping house.
A major part of the project is the laying of a 58.675-kilometer pipeline made of mild steel, 1,500 mm in diameter, to transport water between the treatment plant and Nasirabad. The system will be supported by advanced pumping equipment, electrical and mechanical systems, and a SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) system for real-time monitoring.
The project also includes the demolition of old structures and the construction of new office buildings and staff quarters at the site.
SPML Infra Chairman Subhash Sethi said the company is proud to be part of this important mission. The project is expected to greatly improve water access and quality for communities in the Ajmer district.
