Lucknow: In a significant bureaucratic development, the Uttar Pradesh government has promoted two senior Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers of the 1993 batch, IAS Alok Kumar-II and IAS Veena Kumari, to the prestigious rank of Additional Chief Secretary (ACS).Â
With this, both officers have been elevated to the Apex Scale (Level 17) of the Pay Matrix, the highest rank in the IAS at the state level.
Prior to this promotion, Alok Kumar-II was serving as the Principal Secretary in several key departments, including MSME & Export Promotion, Infrastructure & Industrial Development, and the NRI Department. He has been a key figure in driving UP’s policies on industrial infrastructure and export-led economic growth.
Veena Kumari held the position of Principal Secretary for the Sugar Industries & Cane Development Department as well as the Excise Department. Her role has been central to reforms in the sugar sector, including cane pricing and excise management, both crucial to the state’s rural economy and revenue system.
Their new roles as ACS place them among the top bureaucratic decision-makers in the state.
