Kolkata: The West Bengal government will give Rs 2930 crore to 1.09 crore farmers and barga owners under the state’s Krishak Bandhu scheme.
The camp to hand over the money to these farmers started on 29 July. While the Krishak Bandhu scheme has been operational for some years, this year’s financial support is scheduled to commence during the kharif crop season.
Each farmer and barga owner will get Rs 10,000 per acre in instalments during the year. Those farmers with lesser lands will also get the benefits with Rs 4000 per acre as the minimum cap.
The government has handed out Rs 24,086 crore till date to farmers under this Krishak Bandhu scheme since 2019.
In addition, in case of any farmer’s death between 18 and 60, his family gets Rs 2 lakh as social security.
A total of 1,46,000 farmer families have received Rs 2920 crore under this scheme.
