Kolkata: Â In a significant administrative reshuffle, the West Bengal government has assigned new responsibilities to two senior IAS officers. IAS Aditi Chaudhary (2014 batch), belonging to the West Bengal cadre, has been appointed as the new Commissioner of the Asansol Municipal Corporation.Â
She will also hold the additional charge of Chief Executive Officer of the Asansol Durgapur Development Authority (ADDA).
Previously serving as Special Secretary in the Women & Child Development and Social Welfare Department, Chaudhary is known for her effective implementation of welfare schemes and administrative efficiency. In her new role, she will be responsible for civic administration in Asansol, a major urban center, while also overseeing planned regional development under ADDA.Â
Meanwhile, IAS Saurav Pahari (2008 batch) has been appointed as the Director of the Institute of Environmental Studies & Wetland Management (IESWM), West Bengal. Pahari returns to state service after his central deputation as Deputy Chairperson of the Tea Board of India. His new assignment places him in charge of one of the state’s key institutions, working on wetland conservation and environmental research.Â
The reshuffle highlights the government’s focus on strengthening governance mechanisms in both urban planning and environmental conservation.
